Because of the randomness and uncertainty of wind energy, the control difficulty of wind generating set is increased. The direct drive permanent magnet synchronous wind turbine is taken as an object of the research. The goal of this study is to make the motor output power keep the rated value when the wind speed is above the rated value. The traditional pitch control has shortcomings such as the big torque jitter and susceptibility to interference, a dual-mode control method is proposed which is based on Terminal sliding mode control(SMC). The control strategy is using power and speed control at the same time. The experimental platform of Terminal sliding mode direct-drive wind turbine pitch control model is built by Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that compare to traditional pitch control, the new control method has the advantage such as output power stability and jitter-free, no overshoot, placid pitch angle change and strong anti-jamming.
