Explicit solution of a queue with nonexhaustive service interruption to model Multiuser Access Interference

We provide an explicit analytical solution for a queue with nonexhaustive service interruptions, which is intended to model the effect of multiuser access interference in a frequency hopping wireless access system. The assumption of Poisson arrivals and exponential sojourn times in a two- dimensional Markov chain provides analytical tractability. The matrix-geometric method is used to derive closed-form solutions for the mean number of jobs in the system and mean delay, which are intended to benchmark more realistic models of the inter-arrival, service and interruption times.
