EXCITATION FUNCTIONS FOR THE FORMATION OF ⁷Be AND ²²Na IN PROTON INDUCED REACTIONS ON ²⁷Al

Abstract Excitation functions for the formation of 7 Be and 22 Na in the interaction of 27 Al with protons up to E p = 55 MeV were measured by means of radiochemical techniques. The excitation function for the 27 Al(p, 7 Be) reaction was compared with that for the 24 Mg(α, 7 Be) reaction measured by Lindsay et al ., The cross section for the (α, 7 Be) reaction are larger than those for the (p, 7 Be) reaction by a factor of ten at the same excitation energy of the compound nucleus. The excitation function for the 27 Al(p, αpn) 22 Na reaction was compared with the data obtained by other investigators.
