Sir, We never claimed that this technique was under direct vision. In addition, we did not claim it was superior to microsuction ⁄ dry mopping – our aim was to merely share our experience of a practical and quick method of aural toilet in infants that we have found useful in clinical practice. As we stated in our article, the softness of the catheter prevents damage to the tympanic membrane and the side port with rotation allows pus to be aspirated from the canal. Conflict of interest
