Analysis of optimum unit sizing of a Hybrid Vehicle composed of fuel cell and Electric Double Layer Capacitor by Dynamic Programming

The interest in Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles (FCHVs), i.e. vehicles including a fuel cell and secondary battery as power sources, is arising among automotive manufacturers and researchers. However, severe cost reduction is one of the problems to spread FCHV market. It is necessary to find the optimal unit size combination of FCHV components. In this paper, assuming an ideal power split control with the Dynamic Programming (DP), the combination of the optimal unit size is investigated for several patterns of driving cycles.
