Industrial radiography with X rays is a technique for non destructive inspection with great application, but in order to a correct execution it requires of highly capacitated people even practical as theoretically. Some problems that its training presents are cost of material, energy and time consuming, in addition to the damage in some equipments and the radiological risk by its implementation. These problems exist in the academy too, especially on institutions that teach students for the application of this technique. Because of this problems, it was established and executed a project supported by the TIC’s, that is based on the creation of a computed tool that aids the students during their learning process in determination of the soundness in welded joints; this is made with the simulation of the radiographic inspection with X rays on steel and aluminum specimens, and with the interpretation of the results as a radiographic image. In order to make this computer tool, the programming language MATLAB version 7.0 (Matrix Laboratory) was implemented because of its huge quantity of functions that allows the graphic information processing from numeric information. This computed tool called SimPRI (Simulation of Industrial Radiographic Process) does not pretend to eliminate the application of real equipments, but it will help students to get previous experience in X rays equipments handling and radiographic images interpreting during their non destructive testing course, speeding up their learning process and decreasing the costs of its implementation. * Dissertation. ** Faculty of Physical-Chemical Engineering.
