Finite Element Analysis of Interference Fit between Pulley and Bearing Outer Ring at Different Temperature

Pulley and bearing outer ring are connected under interference fit in mechanical transmission.Pulley is made of aluminum alloy, and bearing outer ring is made of structural steel. When the working temperature rises, the thermal expansion coefficient of aluminum alloy will be larger than steel, which will make the magnitude of interference decrease. If the magnitude of interference is less than the allowable value, relative sliding between pulley and bearing outer ring will occour, and wear will happen.Interference fit and contact stress distribution are analyzed by use of ABAQUS finite element software for pulley and bearing outer ring at different temperature field.Based on the simulation result, the reasonable magnitude of interference is got, which can increase the connection reliability.
