Data Base Development and Analysis for Water Distribution Systems

There have been a number of studies estimating the costs of repairing, replacing, or renovating aging distribution networks. Although useful in general terms, characterizing a system by age and/or breaks per mile of mains is of limited use to a utility trying to manage increasing maintenance costs. The purpose of this paper is to provide insight into developing a data base centered approach for reliability analyses and suggest which analytical tools may be the most useful.
