The term Residual ridge is used to describe the shape of the clinical alveolar ridge after healing of bone and soft tissues post tooth extractions. The most remarkable attribute of the extraction wound healing is that even after the healing of wounds, the residual ridge undergoes a life-long catabolic remodeling. This unique phenomenon has been described as Residual Ridge Resoirption (RRR).Through this book it is intended to make the reader aware of the RRR phenomenon, its aetiology, patho-physiology, its prosthodontic implications and current management strategies.
