Abstract An automated faculty publications system can be an efficient solution to maintaining an official record of the faculty's bibliographic output. In order to maximize usage, a thorough system definition is required. Careful consideration should be given to identifying output requirements, isolating pertinent data elements, defining files and their relationships, and providing flexible access to the database. Annual reports, departmental listings, monthly publications, individual faculty listings for curriculum vitae, plus various ad hoc reports can be provided with accuracy on a timely basis.
