Temperature dependence of L-type calcium channel currents in isolated smooth muscle cells from the rat tail artery

Abstract 1. 1. The temperature dependence of the long-lasting calcium channel ( l channel) current in vascular smooth muscle cells was investigated using the patch clamp technique. 2. 2. From 22 to 35°C the amplitude of L channel currents increased with a temperature coefficient (Q10) of 2.2 ± 0.25. At temperatures greater an 35°C, L channel currents decreased with increasing temperature. 3. 3. The half-times of both activation and inactivation were membrane potential-dependent and were shorter at high temperatures than at lower ones. 4. 4. These studies describe the effects of temperature on the amplitude and kinetics of L channel currents in vascular smooth muscle cells.
