The invention provides an infusion monitoring system and a data transmission method based on polling optimization in the infusion monitoring system. The infusion monitoring system comprises a server, a plurality of receivers and a plurality of infusion monitors, wherein the receivers and the infusion monitors are connected with the server, and the receivers are connected with the infusion monitors. For each infusion monitor, the method comprises the timing reporting process and the measurement and control process. In the timing reporting process, the infusion monitors report infusion information to the server through the connected receivers every other first preset period. In the measurement and control process, the server judges the infusion state according to infusion information, and when the infusion state is abnormal, the server generates and issues control information to the receivers connected with the infusion monitors; the control information is cached in annular buffering areas of the receivers. For the infusion monitors connected to the same receiver, the method further comprises the steps that the infusion monitors poll whether the control information sent to the receivers is cached by the receivers or not, and if yes, the control information is read from the receiver.
