Pesquisa-ação: uma introdução metodológica

Como resultado do grande aumento de sua popularidade e da amplitude de sua aplicacao, a pesquisa-acao tornou-se atualmente um termo aplicado de maneira vaga a qualquer tipo de tentativa de melhora ou de investigacao da pratica. Tendo em vista a confusao que dai advem frequentemente, o principal objetivo deste autor e esclarecer o termo. Apos breve historia do metodo, ele defende que se encare a pesquisa-acao como uma das muitas diferentes formas de investigacao-acao, a qual e por ele sucintamente definida como toda tentativa continuada, sistematica e empiricamente fundamentada de aprimorar a pratica. A seguir, o autor discute o papel da teoria na pesquisa-acao antes de descrever o que considera caracteristicas distintivas do processo. Segue-se um exame mais detalhado do ciclo da pesquisa-acao precedido por um relato do modo pelo qual esse tipo de pesquisa se situa entre a pratica rotineira e a pesquisa academica. O autor passa entao a discutir algumas questoes comuns relativas ao metodo, tais como a participacao, o papel da reflexao, a necessidade de administracao do conhecimento e a etica do processo. O artigo, em sua parte final, trata de cinco diferentes "modalidades" de pesquisa-acao e conclui com um esboco da estrutura de uma dissertacao a partir de pesquisa-acao.
