A conical phased array for reliable and discrete communications

This paper presents a phased array antenna printed on a conical structure. The array is designed to ensure reliable communications using a compact reconfigurable beam forming network embedded in a fuze. Simulations are carried out to assess the performances of such an array (in terms of radiation) and define the best phase weight coefficient for each radiating element of the antenna array. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed array allows maintaining a significant gain in a given direction (transverse to the fuze axis) while presenting low radiation levels in undesirable and sensitive directions.
