The method includes the following steps: receiving the general event trigger, obtaining the description of the event according to the general event trigger; detecting the event; performing the terminal positioning to obtain the location information of the terminal, when the occurrence of the event is detected; transmitting the location information of the terminal and the detected event. The trigger positioning method of the present invention embodiment can support self-defined event, flexibly satisfy the positioning demand of the diversified events of the location requesting party. Under the condition that the location server is need to participate in the positioning, the location server only needs to forward the event information to the location requesting party, the content of the event is not need to be apperceived, the processing capacity of the location server is enhanced.
