INFORMATIONHIDINGBASEDON INTRAPREDICTIONMODES FOR H.264/AVC

Thispaper presents anovel information hiding algorithm for H.264/AVC, taking advantage ofthespecific features ofthis advanced video compression standard. Thealgorithm hides 1bitineachqualified intra 4x4lumablock bymodifying intra 4x4prediction modes(14-modes) basedon the mapping between 14-modes andhiding bits. Information hiding rateiscontrolled by a parameter, embedding strength, whichisalsoembedded intobitstream. Hidden information canbe retrieved by decoding theintra prediction modesfrombitstream, requiring neither original medianorcomplete video decoding. Experimental results showthat theproposed algorithm almost hasnoimpact on video quality andvideo stream features. A comparatively highdata hiding rate isobtained withalittle increase onbit rate.
