The design of disposal systems for runaway chemical reactor relief

Abstract Options for the treatment or disposal of the two-phase discharge from a runaway reactor following emergency venting are discussed. Methods are given for the design of separation vessels and quench tanks. Different types of separation vessel and various design methods are compared. Examples are given for the different methods and systems.
