A new three-phase self-commutated static VAr compensator (SCSVC) containing matrix-reactance PWM AC line conditioner (MRACLC) based on Cuk converter topology is presented in this paper. The symmetrical MRACLC with practically open or short load circuit is employed as a variable reactance to generate or to generate/absorb reactive power. Some interesting simulation and experimental results, obtained from a 1.5 kVA laboratory model, along with theoretical analysis based on state-space averaged method, are shown to study energetic properties of such SCSVC.
