A new proxy caching scheme for parallel video servers

In this paper, we propose an IPC (intra-movie popularity-based caching) scheme for caching continuous multimedia data on proxy server. In this scheme, according to the different access patterns of clients, both the access number and the access duration are taken as two important parameters for the caching scheme design and implementation. Our simulation results show that our proposed caching scheme outperforms other known caching schemes in hit rate, replacement counts and network traffic between video server and proxy server.
