Will Lasers be Useful in Photodermatology

Photodermatology has grown vigorously during the past two decades. An increasing number of clinics and institutes has joined work in this field and the trend is still continuing. In the context of a conference on a special kind of light source it may be good to notice that this growth was not primarily due to the availability of new types of equipment. Much of the recent work could also have been performed with apparatus available in the previous heyday of skin photobiology, in the years around 1930.
