Wind Loads and Flow Visualization around an Oil Tanker Model

Wind forces and moment acting on a tanker ship model in ballast condition were measured at wind tunnel with a view to investigating effects of differences of wind velocity profile and small structural components such as hand rails or pipelines on weather deck upon wind loads. Wind flow around the tanker ship model was also visualized to clarify wind flow structures by smoke method and oil film method for various attack angles ranging from head wind to tail wind.
