Analysis of the Propagation Characteristics of Generalized Ridge Waveguides Using 2-D Finite Difference Frequency Domain Method with Sub-Regions Division

In this paper, we propose a compact two-dimensional finite-difference frequency-domain method (2-D FDFD) with sub-regions division to analyze the propagation characteristics in the generalized ridge waveguides. Compared to other approaches in which six field components are comprised, this approach enjoys an extra saving of CPU time by only involving four transverse field components in the final resulting eigenvalue problem. It addresses some regular sub-regions. In addition, we can employ the compact 2-D FDFD method in every sub-region conveniently, which is a resultant eigenvalue problem. The numerical results are compared with other approaches and show the 2-D FDFD effectiveness.
