A decoupled control strategy for a grid connected direct-drive PMSG based variable speed wind turbine system

Wind energy conversion system (WECS) technology has been evolved from conventional driven to optimized driven in recent years. For unique features of PMSG like high power density, less maintenance requirement in comparison to the other kind of machine, it is pioneering in the WECS technology. In this paper modeling of PMSG and PWM converter have been explored well. The control of PMSG in its machine side and grid side has been achieved by Field Oriented Control(Vector Control). The machine side converter is controlled by a vector control strategy. The grid side converter is controlled by proposing a grid side voltage oriented control by which the DC link voltage is achieved constant. Finally the simulation of the model is performed in MATLAB/SIMULINK and all the results has been discussed briefly.
