Managing disruptions during the execution phase of product development projects: A secondary data analysis

Product development processes are most of the times linear and hardly adapt to exogenous influences, especially when they happen after the planning phase has ended and the project is already in its execution phase. However, the more disruptive the exogenous events are, the more a company requires resources in order to overcome them. Efforts may not only be required from the product development team, solutions from an operational perspective only would present a limited vision on the problem itself. While these disruptive events require multidisciplinary studies in order to be fully comprehended, most of the literature contributions consider only one or few perspectives. This research aims to identify which aspects are needed in a case study in which an event disrupted an ongoing development process.
