Comparing Arabic rhythm metrics among other languages

This paper addresses a calculation and analysis of metrics for the quantification of speech rhythm by using WESTPOINT. Some variables are measured and calculated in detail. Firstly we propose a new Unified Pair-wise Variability Indices system (UPVI) that contains the VarcoC, rPV I and CCI systems. Secondly we applied these metrics to quantifying the Arabic language and its sentences devised to minimize or maximize syllable structure complexity for the first time (“stress-timed” and “syllable-timed” sets). Finally, some initial experimental results and original numerical simulation on speech rhythm metrics are confirmed effectively.
