Sub-micron photonics Switches: Design, fabrication and characterization

MMI-based sub-micron planar waveguide architectures, with 15μm access waveguide separation to enable highintegration density, show higher tolerance to fabrication artifacts. The first results show 3-4 dB device insertion loss and around 1dB/cm waveguide loss.
