A Contiguous Band High-Power Multiplexer for Satellite Earth Stations

A contiguous band high-power multiplexer system for satellite earth station applications is described. The system is designed to operate with the NTELSAT V satellite frequency plan. Considerable advantages of the multiplexer system over a single wideband high-power amplifier in terms of intermodulation noise out-of-band emissions, intelligible crosstalk, primary power consumption, reliability, and flexibility are achieved. System and component design are presented; comparison of the measured system performance with the theoretically computed results indicates excellent agreement.
