Analysis of fuzzy controller for Reduced Voltage Source Multicell Converter

Reduced Voltage Source Multicell Converters are one of the best alternative for Capacitor Multicell Converter, as the former uses only a single voltage source as compared to the later which uses two voltage sources for a single phase converter. In this paper three different levels (i.e., 5 level, 7 level and 9 level) of reduced voltage source multicell converters are analyzed by taking THD as an analyzing parameter, from the analysis it can be inferred that the THD decreases with increase in the number of levels. Suitable fuzzy controllers are designed for the different levels of reduced voltage source multicell converters to control the RMS output voltage. The performance of the fuzzy controllers for the different levels of reduced voltage source multicell converters are analyzed.
