Application of a microcomputer-based database management system to distribution system reliability evaluation

The experience of using a database management system (DBMS) to handle the large amounts of data involved in distribution system reliability evaluation is reported. To demonstrate the capability of the DBMS in data manipulation, reliability evaluation of a distribution system in Taiwan is performed using a DBMS installed on an IBM PC/AT. It is found that using the DBMS tool is a very efficient way of organizing data required by distribution planners. Moreover, the DMBS method is very cost-effective, since it is installed on a personal computer. >
