An expert system for digital filter design

Abstract In this paper a knowledge based system for digital filter design is presented. The system has been developed to assist a human operator during all the phases of the design of digital filters. The AI techniques used to represent the knowledge have been selected to fit the specific characteristics of the application domain. A prototype implementation of the system which helps an unskilled user during the design is presented. A sample consulting session is reported to show the user-system interactive design procedure.
