Automatic classification and creation of classificaton systems using methodologies of knowledge discovery in databases (KDD)

Automatic classification was needed in industrial practice for a long time. At present this topic is addressed in the context of the project “Automatic Classification of Products”. Objectives of this project are the conception and implementation of a program system for automatic classification of products. A software system was developed to automatically compute classifications and encodings on basis of classification schemes, that can be flexible specified. These classification schemes at present have to be specified manually by using features, feature combinations, and calculation rules.
