The status of remote sensing education and training in 1990

Abstract Since the late 1970s Europe has witnessed a rapid, although sometimes unbalanced, expansion of remote sensing education and training, mainly at academic levels and in the field of international education. The increase of training for school teachers and for technicians is even less. Emphasis has been on scientific and technological aspects and on proven applications. Operational work, including the economics of remote sensing, and some promising or new applications require more attention.
