Performance of a Chase-Combining HARQ protocol with cooperation

This reports considers a simple cooperative protocol where a mobile station is used as a relay for uplink transmissions of another mobile station. We derive the loss probability and the throughput of an hybrid automatic repeat request protocol with Chase combining on block fading channels. If the two mobile stations share the same channel, we show that the throughput of both mobile stations are increased (up to +30% in the considered configuration) if the cooperating mobile station is in the vicinity of the base station.
