Polarisation-independent monolithic eight-channel 2-nm spacing WDM detector based on compact arrayed waveguide demultiplexer

An eight-channel/spl times/2 nm monolithic polarisation-independent WDM detector integrating a compact birefringence-free InP/InGaAsP arrayed waveguide demultiplexer and a p-i-n waveguide-detector array is reported for the 1.55 /spl mu/m fibre band. TE and TM responses displayed <0.1 nm dispersion and <0.2 dB difference in responsivity. Absolute channel placement was accurate to <0.1 nm.
