Research on fuzzy energy management strategy of parallel hybrid electric vehicle

This paper focuses on the design of a fuzzy controller of energy management. The controller is established by using the demand torque of parallel hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) driving system and the battery state of charge (SOC) as inputs, and the engine torque as output based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) with compressibility factor, which overcomes the problems such as poor accuracy and limited adaptive capability in the traditional fuzzy control and improves the robustness and control accuracy. The simulation is performed by using electric vehicle simulation software, simulation results demonstrate that in comparison with the traditional fuzzy energy management strategy, the fuzzy energy management strategy based on PSO with compressibility factor can improve fuel economy more effectively and better control the change of SOC, exhaust emission has been also reduced significantly.
