M2M communications for e-health: Standards, enabling technologies, and research challenges

In this paper, we discuss the application of machine-to-machine (M2M) communications to healthcare. We analyze some of the enabling technologies of M2M and present an overview of the challenges, research opportunities, and standardization activities of this exciting area.
