Effects of the use of television for an undergraduate course in computer science

Information technologies correspond to various software and hardware used to process and communicate information. Information technologies range from physical devices like paper, pencils, books, newspapers, cameras, tape recorders, and computers to more symbolic tools like languages, and symbols (Laudon, Traver and Laudon, 1994). The concept came from a merging of the computer technologies with telecommunications. Information technologies have a strong impact on business because of their potential for changing how to make business. Any organization wanting to be competitive in the worldwide market must use the different kinds of information technologies available today. It has to make different types of information technologies (sensing technologies, communication technologies, analyzing technologies, and display technologies) work together in an information system. The "information system takes in data from the environment using sensing and communication technologies (input), analyzes this information using computer hardware and software (process), and finally displays the product as useful information (output). You can then use this information to act on the environment surrounding you (feedback)" (Laudon, Traver and Laudon, 1994, p. 14). Information technologies can bring to organizations an actual competitive advantage in the worldwide economy. They can allow them to enhance their productivity.
