Development of Campus Geographic Information System Based on Open Source Software

Firstly,this paper analyzes the features of open source GIS software such as PostGIS,MapServer,TileCache and OpenLayers.Then a campus geographic information system is built by these open source software applications,system development process and some key issues of this process are described in details.The system hasadvantages in friendly user interface,low development cost and maintenance cost,low hardware requirements and easyto deploy.This paper provides a free open source solution for projects of campus geographic information system.
