Video Signal Processing for Hd-Vcr Using 1/2-Inch Tape

A high-definition VCR using 1/2-in tape has been developed. High-quality pictures are obtained by using a highly precise nonlinear emphasis system, a newly developed time-base corrector, and an automatic equalizer. The bandwidths for luminance and chrominance are 20 MHz and 7 MHz, respectively. The recording time is 63 min. The FM recording method is used, and four-channel PCM (pulse code modulated) audio signals with 20-kHz bandwidth can be recorded as well. This VCR has enough quality for professional use with good cost-effectiveness. >
