Stability of Gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) in Paraffin Embedded Liver Tissue

AbstractGamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) has long been used as a histochemical marker for “preneoplastic”f foci of cellular alteration in several rat hepatocarcinogenicity models. This enzyme can be detected in frozen as well as in paraffin-and glycol methacrylate-embedded tissues. It has been assumed that tissue blocks to be stained for GGT must be stored at 4°C. This is report demonstrates that cold processed, paraffin embedded blocks can be stored at room temperature without significant loss of GGT staining. (The J Histotechnol 13:185, 1990)
