Thermal Aging of Polypropylene Nanocomposites

The thermal aging behavior of polypropylene(PP) nanocomposites film at 130℃was in-vestigated.The results show that the thermal aging of PP nanocomposites is much faster than that of PP.Differing from the widely accepted thermal oxidation mechanism, there is no obvious oxidation in PP nanocomposites during the testing period. The crack formation depended on two factors: one is the aggregation of nano particles, which is responsible for the deterioration of the mechanical properties.Another is contraction stress due to the re-crystallization of PP under the aging temperature.Same re-sults were obtained in thick samples of about 4 mm in thickness.
