This paper describes current research work aimed at developing an evaluation process as well as an accounting framework specifically tailored to industrial ergonomics and which concentrate on the following economic issues related to ergonomic or health and safety costs: identifying and classifying health and safety costs within a comprehensive cost classification; studying the behavior of health and safety costs; allocating health and safety costs to cost objects.
