ABET Engineering Criteria 2000

Last July, the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) recommended to the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) the adoption, for a two year comment period, of a radically different set of criteria for accrediting programs of engineering in the United States. These criteria, now called ABET ENGINEERING CRITERIA 2000, could become effective in the year 2000 and will have a major impact on the way that engineering accreditation is conducted when finally adopted. This session will discuss the ABET ENGINEERING CRITERL4 2000, the process that has produced them, and the activities mw underway to study their impact and implementation.
