Calculation and Use of Peaking Factors for Remote Terminal Emulation

An important goal of the remote terminal emulator-driven tests described here was obtaining a representative test workload. Reaching this goal depended on (i) imposing the test workload in a representative manner, (ii) using representative types of user scenarios in that workload, and (iii) specifying a representative number of each type. How the first two subgoals were reached is briefly described. Achieving the third required definition and calculation of em peaking factors. A tool for calculating these quantities is described.
