Mode propagation of the field generated by Collett-Wolf Schell-model sources

Abstract The shape invariance properties exhibited in the course of paraxial propagation by the field generated by a Collett-Wolf Schell-model source are shown to be related to the mode structure of the field. A whole class of sources which generate shape invariant fields is found.
