For energy saving in buildings, the energy saving technology was used to the design phase. Also the designer considering many technology and methods. But paradoxically the building envelope got a increase the area of windows like a curtain wall. Because window is transmission body, actually the difference between window and wall is not just thermal performance. The performance of solar heat gain on window has affected the energy consumption of cooling and heating in buildings. So the designer must be considered the energy variation effect of the performance of windows in the design phase. But actually the guideline of window installation has not enough. Therefore the authors performed to energy simulation by variation of the performance of windows. And the authors used to that result for analysis of the importance of the window design guideline development. By the simulation results, the authors confirmed the energy consumption variation of 4.8% by changing U-value and 11.8% by changing SHGC of windows. The authors confirmed the more effect of SHGC changing than U-value changing on the windows. So the window design guideline need to contain the solar control devices like a shading device because the performance of solar heat gain is important.
