Tuning Time Scale Parameter of Piecewise Linear Oscillators for Phase Resetting Control

In this work, we study phase response properties of a piecewise linear oscillator model known as the Matsuoka oscillator, and consider its application to phase reseting control for rhythmic movements in robotics. This oscillator model can be regarded as a fast-slow system featured by a time scale parameter that determines the frequency and amplitude of the oscillation in the system. We computed phase response curves (PRCs) under perturbation into each dynamics, and then investigated the dependence of the PRCs on the time scale parameter. Based on the results, we will discuss the phase resetting control using the PRCs and its possible optimization by tuning the time scale parameter.
