Enhancing ditized images by controlled transducer tremor

A method is proposed for improving the resolution of visual images beyond the limits imposed by stationary transducers. This procedure consists of causing the transducer grid to shift with respect to the visual field, recording the components of the shift, and correlating the transducer element states over many such tremors to achieve a more accurate mapping of the image. The method is investigated in a formal manner by proving three theorems which characterize the refinement capabilities. Simulated mappings are illustrated by employing a computer model which embodies the specified refinement procedure.
