Sound propagation in fitted rooms—comparison of different models

Abstract This paper presents the results of an experiment undertaken in a fitted workshop. These results point out the importance of fittings on the sound level in this type of industrial room. Different models used to predict the sound levels in fitted workshops are first presented and them implemented. Finally, the results of measurements done in the workshop are compared to those obtained with the predictive models. This comparison allows one to obtain an appreciation of the effect on the accuracy of the results of the simplifying hypotheses assumed in the various models. This comparison gives also a major contribution to the predictive technique dealing with acoustics in closed space.
