On synchronizing sequences and unspecified values in output responses of synchronous sequential circuits

Unspecified values in output sequences of synchronous sequential circuits complicate fault detection and diagnosis. Special synchronizing sequences are proposed in this work to eliminate unspecified output values as early as possible. Their usefulness is demonstrated in fault diagnosis.
